| Few people who live outside of the 34th ward know about the hidden treasures that rest here. Some of the most beautiful architecture in home designs were formed here. There are the classic craftmen homes, the landmark Frank Lloyd Wright designed home, the classic Chicago Bungalows and the Sears Honor built homes. Many people are shocked to find out that they live in a Sears home. Many are even more shocked to see just what the home cost when it was originally built. It will make your head spin ! And there are the Mansions, Beautiful majestic homes built by men and women of means, in a time when a dollar was worth a dollar. This beautiful ward all the potential in the world to be the most attractive in the city. Rivaling homes in Beverly and the Jackson park high lands. The 34th ward unlike the other two mention wards is under planned attack and its beautiful homes and huge lots are about to vanish into the history books of "what once was" the City of Chicago and the ward office are destroying a historic community all for the sake of greed. |

| They are not exactly the kind of images that come to mind when someone says Roseland". Roseland has been so vilified with bad press that the true beauty of the community has been hidden from the outside world, including the existence of Sheldon Heights as a neighboring community Why? It makes it cheaper to buy into and easier to take from the residents who live here. As you can see, Pride of ownership is strong in the 34th wards Sheldon Heights community. Many tell of the climate 30 years ago when " white flight" consumed the 34th ward. These homes were bought for the average price of $35,000.00 in the mid 70s. Expensive by those days standards, and from that time on, home costs have rose at an incredible rate. The lie that suckered most of the individuals to sell their houses was that the property value was going to fall. We know today that was a lie. $35,000.00 is an unheard of price today for such huge lots and beautiful homes. These home owners have no intention of selling their homes. Many are owned by senior citizens. They are allowed a tax break because of their age. However when they pass on and leave the homes to their children, the taxes will skyrocket. In many cases the heirs cannot afford the taxes and are forced to sell the home or even worse loose it to the city. Fast track is alive and well in the 34th ward and it has taken its toll on hundreds of homes and thousands of lives. Fast track will not stop on its on. We have to stop it. I have a radical Idea. I believe when a home is paid for, taxes on it should end. I also believe taxes should only increase on property when it is sold. But who knows maybe one day the reality will set in and people will realize that" If things keep going the way they are going the city and foreign investors will own everything". Something has to be done to stop taxing a persons home away from them. Is this the type of world we want to live in? What else do you pay tax on after its paid for? Nothing! That is what makes it so ridiculous, and no ones trying to stop it. People are brainwashed into believing it has to be this way. It does not. WE LIVE IN AN INSANE WORLD WITH A GOVERNMENT THAT PREYS ON ITS CITIZENS Let us not forget the SEARS HOMES. That is a tour in itself. |
