	Got a question about sandpaper... Ask a caveman they are experts on "grit" You got a question about oxidation...You've went beyond the caveman's realm of consciousness. He doesn't understand that oxidation and plastic are separate entities with a common bond. His mind cannot process the fact that oxidation can be removed without sandpaper or abrasive polish. This has left the caveman confused, bewildered and in some cases angry enough to attack.

		This is the beginning of a sandpaper type cleaning kit The damage is obvious and permanent. It is a job that can take hours to complete


	Oxidation and abrasive damage are two different things

	This lens has been cleared of oxidation. The remaining UV layer shows evidence of abrasive damage from polishing A close examination will reveal surface areas where the UV layer has been worn off and the unprotected surface of the headlight lens is exposed. The hazy surface is the result of an abrasive polish used to clean the lens. This lens would have to be resurfaced to get it clear again. However without the protective UV layer the restoration won't last very long. It will fail and the lens will yellow and have to be replaced.


		This is the aftermath of a cheap abrasive low tech caveman type cleaner on the protective headlight lens UV layer.

	Used car dealers are notorious for temporary fixes like using rubbing compound or sandpaper to touch up the appearance of dulled headlight lens. Once your headlight gets to this point the only thing you can do is finish scouring the remainder of UV coating form the lens. This is a journey of no return, Your headlights will continue to oxidize. Eventually without the UV coating the headlight will continue to yellow beyond the surface and you will have to replace them. 	OXIDATION DOES NOT CAUSE THE LENS TO TURN YELLOW OXIDATION IS NOT CAUSED BY UV RAYS DESPITE WHAT YOU MAY HAVE READ IN INTERNET FORUMS. THERE IS A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN OXIDATION AND UV DAMAGE YOU NEED TO KNOW THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE TWO Yellowing is caused by Ultra Violet rays from the sun. With the UV layer intact the rays are effectively blocked from reaching the lens. The white oxidation which forms on top of the UV layer will turn yellow and brown from a combination of ultra violet rays and contaminants. This does not effect the lens below. However once this UV layer is severely damaged or removed the UV rays can reach the lens and cause it to turn yellow. When this happens there is no recovery. The yellow will permeate the lens and cause the lens it's self to turn yellow. This yellowing is permanent, and your lens will continue to oxidize at an accelerated rate. Removing the oxidation will not remove the yellow nor can it be sanded or polished away. DON'T BE FOOLED INTO DESTROYING YOUR UV LAYER WITH CHEAP ABRASIVES AND POLISH
